We tested a new 2019 Can-Am Maverick Sport X RC at Sand Hollow State Park . The Sport X RC is Can-Am s newest Rock Crawler that is base on the Maverick Sport. The vehicle features HMW skid plate, winch, Smart-Lok 4WD system, FOX Podium shocks, 64" width, 15" ground clearance, 90.6" wheelbase. We took our 2017 Polaris RZR XP Turbo to Sand Mountain, NV to play in the sand. Our RZR features products from CageWrx, HCR Racing, PRP Seats, RCV Performance, Rugged Radios, Wolf Designs, HiPer Wheels, Fullerton Sand Sports, RIGID, Shock Therapy, Whip Tech, Assault Industries, Factor 55, Factory UTV and Axia Alloys
The last two years, UTV have had to descend Backdoor during King of the Hammers UTV race. This obstacle is always risky, and several racers roll or break when they hit the bottom. We caught up with Branden Sims while he was pre-running for the 2019 KOH race in his 64-inch wide Polaris RZR XP1000. Branden showed great control, and saved his RZR from rolling over.

We drove our UTVs to Top of the World northeast of Moab, Utah. We took the long way up and started from Upper Onion Creek Campground. Incredible scenery on the drive up Onion Creek Canyon. One challenging obstacle is Rose Garden Hill in Cottonwood Canyon. It is a long steep hill with bedrock steps and loose eroded rock making the ascent more challenging. The trail then climbs onto the southern part of Waring Mesa and views the Dolores River Canyon in the near distance. The view from Top of the World is hard to beat and definitely worth the trip up. There are several routes that can get you to Top of the World, and once you get to the end, it can get a little busy. Head up early on a weekday if you want it more peaceful.
CJ Greaves takes on the 2018 King of the Hammers UTV race in his turbocharged Yamaha YXZ1000R. Filmed in Johnson Valley, CA at race mile 3, 57 and 91 (Jack North). This was CJ Greaves first attempt at King of the Hammers and he finished in fifth place and had the fastest first lap time.
We took our Can-Am Maverick X3 X RC to Southern California to test it in the Desert Terrain. The X3 is running 32-inch ITP Coyote tires and also has No Limit cage and front arms along with ZRP radius links.
Hailing from Guntersville, Alabama, Cash’s foray into the powersports world began on a PW 50. After witnessing a catastrophic accident between a youth rider and a big bike on a motocross track, Cash’s parents began steering him towards something with a roll cage. Generally speaking, a RZR 170 would be more than enough machine to keep your average 5 year old satisfied for quite some time but Cash quickly became frustrated that his RZR failed to keep up on family outings.

The Polaris RZR RS1 may be able to hang with a RZR Turbo on flat hard pack, but up the face of Sand Mountain, NV it is a different story. But to us that is no surprise even with a few hundred pound weight advantage, the RS1 is naturally aspirated with 110HP and the Turbo S has 168HP. Boost matters on this long, steep hill climb.

We mounted up a set of ITP’s new 33-inch Coyote tire on Walker Evans Racing beadlock wheels and tested them in Johnson Valley on a Can-Am Maverick Sport X RC.
