I captured this portrait of my grandfather, Jan van Driel, in 2014 with my brother when he was still in good health. He passed away in summer 2021. The wind mill is on display at the Kinderdijk Museum in the Netherlands. The steam engines are owned by various family members. He will always be an inspiration of creativity and craftsmanship.

Monte Vandalino is the first mountain right next to my property. You can drive up a track quite far and then it s a short hour walk to the top. Some enchanting days at the cabin with the forest drenched in red and yellow. Most of the leaves have gone now after the föhn (warm wind). I m returning from my weekend hike to Conca del Pra. Finishing up the patio and building back the stairs in between the two cabins. I m bringing the car to the valley to get a new clutch.
