The hardest part about keeping snakes or any reptile is death. Snakes and Lizards and Turtles all die, just like us. But this doesn t mean your pet dying is your fault, especially when speaking about babies fresh out of the egg. Super Honesty Time. If you liked this video please hit subscribe. Coming home to a dead pet is enough to put anyone off of owning snakes or lizards or any reptile. But it isn t always your fault and especially when breeding snakes, things happen. We had ten beautiful ball python eggs all due to hatch and when we got home from a herping trip out west we found a horrific scene. When I opened the incubator I found that out eggs had mostly hatched but one of the normal baby ball pythons did not make it. It is always sad to see a fully formed snake that could grow up to be a great pet for someone and maybe even a breeder producing their own babies, not make it. As heartbreaking as animals dying is, don t let the bad outweigh the good. Snakes can get sick just like people or any other animal. A sick lizard or snake however can not show it s sickness the same way a mammal can and because of that walking in on an expired animal is not common, but possible.
