http://www.Top-Tennis-Training.com/ Tennis Singles Lesson - Top 3 Mistakes and How To Correct Them. Tennis players of all ages and abilities make these three simple mistakes when playing a singles tennis match: 1. Not warming up and preparing mentally for the match ahead. Many players give away at least 3-4 games at the start of every match simply because they don t warm up prior to the match starting. It then takes them 20-30 minutes to get into the match and by that time they could have lost the first set already. 2. Not analysing the data that is presented during the match. Many players go through matches brain dead, not using the information that is being given to them throughout the course of a tennis match. Every point will give you data, the smart tennis players out there use that data to their advantage. 3. Giving up without a fight. Many players check out mentally after going behind or when they have a bad day. Better players will spot that and exploit it to the full when they see an opponent who has lost heart. Solutions: 1. Make sure you warm up as well as you possibly can before the match starts. This means hitting for around 30 minutes if possible and going through a good pre match routine which will include some form of visualization. If hitting isn t an option you can still warm up your body for the battle ahead, jogging, skipping and shadow swings should be included in this pre match routine. 2. Constantly ask yourself two questions when playing a tennis match, "How am I winning and losing points?". If you know the answers to both questions you can figure out a strategy to win more points and lose less. 3. Fight - Don t give up easily and fight until the last ball has been struck. Build a reputation as someone who is always present and focused on the court.
