About Runa Ray: Runa Ray, strongly believes that Slow Fashion is the new Fast Fashion and Going Green is the need of the hour. Her passion for Sustainable and Ecofriendly fashion has inspired her to design several collections with a bid to reduce her Carbon footprint. Her creative instincts and passion for Ecofashion has motivated her to handcraft Evening paper gowns which were exhibited in the 43rd Annual Hannover ‘Aus Papier’ exhibition in Germany in 2006. Living true to the recycling mantra, she has even designed ecofriendly paper using recycled garments. Her beginnings stem from her schooling in Bangalore, the IT hub of India from where she went on to pursue her studies in NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology), Chennai. Here at India’s most prestigious fashion school, her final Jury collection grabbed the Best Design Award. From then onwards, there was no stopping her. She smoothly paved her way to Paris where she went on to complete her Masters in Garment engineering from Paris Chamber of commerce at the industries Ecole Supérieure des Industries du vêtement. It was during this stint that she got to work with some notable Dutch & French designers of the likes of John Galliano- Christian Dior and the House of Dior. It was here that she learnt the fine art of Haute Couture and decided to blend it with her knowledge of ready to wear. Her designs for John Galliano featured in the ID and Vogue USA In 2012. Back home in India she has worked as Womenswear Design head with giants like Madura Garments (Allen Solly) and Levi’s India (Embellished Jeans in Levis For the Miss Universe Collection). In 2012, she founded Mojo Design Studios in Bangalore with its manufacturing facility based in India. Soon to follow was her Designer label, Runa Ray, a RTW line headquartered in Singapore-South East Asia along with Mojo Designs International, headquartered in London, UK. Having participated in several Fashion weeks in Singapore in the last couple of years, She is also a regular at the New York Fashion Week.
