White Java Sparrow Chicks - Saturday, October 31st, 2020
A pair of white java sparrows has laid six eggs. Four among them hatch and grow well. We love this. This pair of java sparrows is intentionally brought in for breeding. Because in our area this bird is very rarely found in the wild. And there have been many regional regulations that recommend breeding this type of bird so that its population does not become extinct. Even so, many of these birds are outside Indonesia. We have many things to consider before deciding to keep them. We have brought these birds since mid 2019. We take good care of them. Even so, breeding this bird is quite difficult. They often lay eggs, but after hatching the chicks they cannot grow properly. As long as we take care of them, we can only grow five chicks including the four in this video. We hope in the future we can do even better. In this cage it looks quite dirty, we purposely don t clean it, because in our experience, when we clean the cage when the chicks can t feed themselves, the male parent will bite their chicks. In fact, it will continue until their chicks are outside the nest. We don t know what causes it. What is clear is that we try to keep these chicks safe in order to grow up. And we also haven t thought about what we will do when these chicks grow up. Are we going to release it into the wild or other options. We don t know yet .. Meanwhile, enjoy this video ..
