Today we had the honor of going to a local Tibetan family home for an outstanding traditional, and special Tibetan food meal. It was not only a chance to try Tibetan foods that are not typically available at a restaurant, but a total learning experience about Tibetan food and culture. #Tibet #Lhasa #TibetanFood After arriving to the family home we first enjoyed some Tibetan butter tea and snacks, and then proceeded to the kitchen to start cooking. I loved the decoration and style of Tibetan homes, so warm, cozy, and welcoming. Some of the main Tibetan food they prepared were yak and cheese momos, fried potato momos, soup with yak meatballs, a steamed sheep head, fried mutton with potatoes and onions, ginseng fruit with sugar and butter, and a number of other impressive Tibetan foods. The food was delicious and meaty (and very hearty), the setting was gorgeous Tibetan culture, and the hospitality stood out among everything. What an outstanding day in Lhasa, Tibet!
