Students have been kicked out of a luxury accommodation after the landlord agreed to move migrants into the halls, leaving over a hundred struggling to find a place to live before the term begins in September. The Home Office has reportedly planned to move hundreds of asylum seekers into a 405-bed HD1 tower in Huddersfield, which has a cinema room and gym and where top-end studio flats can cost £200 a week. Dr Mike Jones from Migration Watch UK says asylum seekers who paid “criminal gangs and human traffickers” to be in the UK are given preference over British citizens and foreign students who’ve come to the UK through legitimate means.
