HIV from Tattooing? | Is a Traditional Tattoo safe? Philippines travel vlog
The number one comment on my Apo Whang-Od Tattoo video has been about HIV. I ve decided to make a video about it. Is Traditional Tattooing safe? Can you get HIV from tattooing? 7 years ago I visited Wat Bang Pra near Bangkok to get a Sak Yant, a traditional Thai Tattoo. Here I met Luang Pi-Nunn and received a Gao Yord, and several other patterns tattooed on my back in a very similar manner to Bamboo Tattoo. I ve always heard about the risks of tattooing, and decided to do more research about is tattooing safe. What was interesting to me was the idea of a "reservoir" inside a needle. A hollow area where blood can stay between users of that needle. In a tattoo gun or a syringe, this exists, and a significant amount of blood can be passed from person to person. In a thorn, bamboo spike, or metal rod, this does not, and drastically reduces the quantity of blood passed from person to person. This DOES NOT ELIMINATE the risks however, and I strongly recommend you doing your own research before diving into these experiences yourself. I am not a doctor, nor an expert on this matter.
