2016 Jeep Cherokee - Deep Snow & Off-Road Review. The 2016 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 4X4 with Jeep Active Drive II features a 3.2L V6 engine and a 9 speed automatic transmission, with hill descent control and an off-road suspension. The Select Terrain system allows for choosing between Auto, Snow, Sport, and Mud/Sand, altering the way the vehicle performs to handle different scenarios. There is a rear axle disconnect, meaning 100% of the torque up front, and the vehicle is capable of sending 100% of the torque to the rear. Snow mode prefers a 60/40 F/R torque split, while sport mode s the opposite with a 40/60 F/R torque split. A brake lock differential uses the brake to try and mimic a locking differential, reducing wheel slip to allow more torque to be sent the wheel with the most traction.
