Why You Shouldn t Buy "Dory" - about the Blue Tang

Basic information about the Hippo Blue Tang aka "Dory" from Finding Nemo and Disney s new film Finding Dory. These fish are not for beginner aquarists and are not safe to buy for your children just because you like the movie. **PLEASE understand I m talking in layman s terms in this video. I m not using a lot of the scientific words and such because I m anticipating people who don t know the hobby enough to recognize what they mean. Some things I have put into simpler terms to make it easier to understand. Only purchase if you re an experienced saltwater aquarist Please understand there are reports that the Hippo Blue Tang is becoming threatened in the wild due to the coral reef diminishing and all the pollution, global warming, over fishing, etc occurring to our oceans! Instead of spending all your money to potentially kill a blue tang, consider donating some money to wildlife funds and ocean conservation funds to conserve the species in the wild! Also look into other ways to help the ocean as a whole.
