I ve had many questions regarding why our newest little rescues mom would have bit off it s wing tips. From what I was told upon picking this little one up is that the mom was a first time mother. Not all new moms understand how to be a good parront and sometimes they just aren t good at it in general. It s nature and sometimes there isn t a good explanation as to why they do certain things. In Cypresses situation we want to believe it was pure accident as his mother wasn t a first time mom and hadn t done what she did prior or with any other offspring but with this little ones mom it certainly wasn t an accident. It may come to a surprise to some of you but many things we don t hear about on a regular basis happen more often than you think (I m not going into details) and sometimes only the strongest survive. What I can say is we are thrilled this little one has found its way into our hearts. We will do the best we possibly can to make life enjoyable even if flight will never happen. We should find out if it s a male or female by the end of the week. I already have a name picked out either way but I appreciate all your suggestions. We are noticing some color popping out and my personal guess as of right now is that it will be an emerald turquoise violet. It will take a little more time to confirm for sure though. Moving on to Aurora and Hendricks babies...Aurora and Hendrick as many of you know had three babies hatch. We are so very proud of how great they did together taking care of their babies. They are no longer in a separate room and happily out together with the others. Since moving them out they haven t shown any interest in their babies. I wasn t sure what to expect as none of our flock have actually hatched babies before. Aurora flew over to our brooder once where the babies are kept (to stay warm) and looked from a distance but when it came time for them to eat, neither showed interest and that s okay, I m happy to assist. They will still watch me with their babies every single day. It will be interesting to see how and if they will interact with them. Let me also say their babies were freaking HUGE! She must of stuffed those babies to the brim 😂. So big a leg band wouldn t go on over their feet. Upon getting them out I said to my husband "these aren t just any babies these are butterball turkey s". All three are doing wonderful!
