KAMBÔ: THE FROG POISON RITUAL | TRADITIONAL AMAZON MEDICINE

This experience is one of my favourites since I started travelling 8 years ago. A Kambo Cleanse is putting the poison off the back of a bright green frog into small points burned into your skin. Warriors of Amazonian tribes would use Kambo for its many benefits. After applying the poison, you get extremely sick for a short period after. Extreme fever, swelling of the face, terrible headache, vomiting, dizziness, convulsions, these are all the symptoms of Kambo. After the short allergic reaction your body has to the poison, everything changes. All your senses are heightened. You see more clearly, your hearing improves, you can smell more of your surroundings. Also, your immune system becomes supercharged, making you able to resist infections and disease. Warriors would use Kambo for these purposes, and often apply the poison before war or a hunt. Psychedelic Coming soon is the middle part of the story. The night we had before kambo. What unfolded that night was completely unexpected. I long session with the shaman and his friend, inhaling rapé (a powder from leaves of the forest), and drinking ayahuasca.
