Olivia Colman s Dior Oscars dress took 320 hours to make | Bazaar UK
Although Olivia Colman was not able to be in Los Angeles for the 2021 Academy Awards, the actress still dialled up the glamour for the glitzy event, attending an official screening of the Oscars in London, where she wore a beautiful red Dior couture gown. The dress featured a high neck, an ankle-length hem, long sleeves with a puffed detail and a nipped-in waist – and made for one of her most elegant red-carpet looks to date. Inspiration for the gown came from two different dresses that appeared in Dior s most recent couture show. It was designed specifically for Colman by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri and her team, who created the gown in around 320 hours using red silk crepe, something which the Dior team and Colman s stylist Miranda Almond explain in our exclusive behind-the-scenes video. "We came up with a concept that Olivia would feel comfortable in, that she d look great in," Almond says of the look. "Red is the colour of strength and of passion, and I think that is two things that Olivia brings to all of her roles." Watch how the beautiful gown came together in our video here.
