A "Seepage Basin" is also known as a "Sip Well" or "Coyote Well" and it is a viable technique for getting water that is just below the surface that you cannot access otherwise. This is an extremely valuable tool to add to your skill set to help get you through a difficult situation. This technique does not make water safe to drink. It should still be filtered to remove turbidity and large particulates, and absolutely should still be disinfected either thermally or chemically, or processed through a commercial filter like the Sawyer Mini.
