The man who made the Random Golf Club logo is next in line for a match with Erik Anders Lang, and also the latest guest on the EAL Show podcast. The stakes are higher than they ve ever been: the loser of this match has to get a tattoo...of the winner s choice. Tony Knapton is Random Golf Club s Art Director and Merch Lord, and he s responsible for the artwork and logos you ve seen since on pretty much every piece of RGC gear since Day 1. For their match, he and Erik head out to Riverside Golf Course in Austin to hack it around and tell us a little more about the story behind Random Golf Club and some of Tony s favorite pieces so far. While in Dallas, we took a trip to Pine Dunes in Frankston, TX. We d heard this course was a must-visit, and we weren t disappointed. Pine Dunes was GolfWeek s #1 course in Texas 8 times since 2010, and is certainly the toughest course I ve played in Texas. Erik Anders Lang goes on a Random Golf Club mission up the Hudson River to Sleepy Hollow: A golf club with ties to the Rockefeller and Vanderbilt families and golf course originally designed by C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor. A.W. Tillinghast helped expand the course in the 1920 s and friend of the show Gil Hanse had a hand in recent renovations. Erik is joined by Author Tom Coyne who wrote "A Course Called Scotland," where he traveled the Home of Golf from top to bottom playing over 100 links courses. Jacob from Instagram met Erik for the first time on the first tee of Sleepy Hollow. You may recognize him from the Random Golf Club at Liberty National (shot later), which makes him the first reoccurring character in the series. Brendan is a close friend of Tom Coyne s who has traveled with him to many golf courses (and even countries) after introducing himself to Tom during a round of golf. Oh - and don t forget the legend of the Headless Horseman which lends itself to the club s logo today, one of the best in golf. Houston s Random Golf Club experience took place January 11th at Gus Wortham Park, and to say it was electric is a bit of an understatement. Erik Anders Lang and 65 people played into the sunset with smiles and laughs. For a lot of people who are skeptical at first, the RGC experience is invigorating. Whether it s teeing off in front of a massive crowd of (friendly) people or spending more time chatting than cursing at shots, RGC is truly a unique experience. Stay tuned as more fun and exciting RGC content is coming to the channel in the coming weeks! For more on Erik, all things Random Golf Club, merch, news and meet-ups go to https://randomgolfclub.com/

How do the hickory golf clubs of the 19th and early 20th century hold up against the golf club technology of the modern era? We went to The Lido to find out. Considered one of the greatest golf course designs of all time, The Lido Golf Club in Long Island, NY is arguably the most famous lost golf course in history. It opened its doors in 1917, though despite its renowned, the course fell into disrepair during the great depression and closed its doors forever during WWII. With years of work, implementing various types of surveying technology, Tom Doak and his team are meticulously restoring The Lido in Wisconsin, 1,000 miles away from its original home. We do a deep dive into The Lido on an episode of Adventures in Golf - be on the lookout for that over on the Skratch YouTube channel.
