James Bond may be a fictional character, but his effect on Aston Martin is very much real. In the decades since its first appearance, Aston Martin has developed into a global luxury brand that generated more than $1 billion in revenue in 2017. Despite the Hollywood fame and the recent IPO, the company has had its fair share of Financial troubles, going bankrupt seven times in 105 years. Real-life Aston Martins don’t have ejector seats like in James Bond, but they do take 200 man-hours to make. Cars can spend up to 50 hours at the paint shop as employees perfect the look on each Aston. At the RCMP Academy in Regina, Saskatchewan, future Mounties run outside in their uniforms to get a feel for what it s like to pursue a suspect or track a missing person in extreme conditions. Some cadets get the opportunity to accompany a police dog on their outdoor run when a dog and its handler are at the Academy. When senior video correspondent Graham Flanagan visited the Academy in December 2019 — on a day when the temperature dipped to about 25 degrees below zero — he joined a group of cadets who got to go on a run with Baylee, a retired police dog handled by Constable Brent Bates, who spent seven years with her in the field.
