Hello from Montevideo! In today’s video, we'll be visiting some of the city's attractions and also sampling Uruguay's national dish - chivito! We started the morning with a visit to the iconic Palacio Salvo, which is a landmark in Montevideo’s Old Town. This was the tallest building in all of South America up until the year 1935. If you think Palacio Salvo looks familiar, that’s because you can find its twin, Palacio Barolo, across the pond in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Both were designed by the Italian architect Mario Palanti. Originally, the idea for this particular structure was to build a hotel, however, in the end only one floor ever functioned as that, and all the other floors were turned into apartments and office space. During our tour, we also visited the viewing deck on the 25th floor, where you get a bird’s eye view of Montevideo. Then, we continued to Bar Hispánico for lunch, where we ordered chivito - Uruguay's national dish! Chivito consists of a beef steak, which can be served in sandwich or plated form. It is then topped with a mountain of mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, mayonnaise, olives, bacon, beets, eggs, ham, fries and just about anything else you can imagine. It's a must-try dish for anyone visiting Uruguay. The following day we explored the beachside neighbourhood of Pocitos, which is beautiful for a stroll along the waterfront. Fun fact: Montevideo's rambla is the longest continuous sidewalk in the world stretching 22.2 kilometres in length down the coast! This is also where you'll find the Montevideo city sign for that classic postcard shot of the city. The sign gets repainted quite often, so you never know what colours or patterns you'll get on your visit. We hope you enjoy this video and we'll see you again in the next one! #montevideo #uruguay #chivito * * * * * * * * * * * * Visiting MONTEVIDEO's Attractions + Eating CHIVITO (Uruguay's National Dish) 🇺🇾 GEAR WE USE Panasonic GH5: http://amzn.to/2yqTUyi Canon G7X ii: http://amzn.to/2yqtM6B Rode Video Micro: http://amzn.to/2wTguTM Joby Gorilla Pod: http://amzn.to/1PgoY5F SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro: http://amzn.to/25KEErs * * * * * * * * * * * * SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: http://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: http://nomadicsamuel.com/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ * * * * * * * * * * * * Music We Use: http://bit.ly/SamAudreyMusic

What's our daily life in Argentina like? For this week's video, we thought we'd film a weekly vlog showing you little glimpses of what we get up to. We started the week off by joining a trekking club and spending a day in the mountains - it really challenged our fitness! We also watched Argentina play in the World Cup and what a stressful first game that was! The rest of the week was spent meeting with an electrician, clearing the trees around the house so the roofers can work, and clearing more of the bush around the property where we've been discovering all sorts of treasures. We also sampled some alfajores - a must-try dessert for anyone visiting Argentina! And that's it, that's the weekly vlog of our week in the life in Argentina. Weekly Vlog: 00:50 - Monday: We went trekking 11:07 - Tuesday: We watched the World Cup 13:15 - Wednesday: We found an electrician 15:26 - Thursday: We worked on clearing the land 19:53 - Friday: We ran errands in town 21:40 - Saturday: We sampled some alfajores * * * * * * * * * * * * HOW YOU CAN HELP 🙏 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/samuelandaudrey 🧱 Buy us a Brick: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/samuelandaudrey ❤️ Like, share, subscribe and comment so the videos can reach more people. Today, we're taking you inside the home we're about to start renovating in Argentina, and brace yourself because as far as I know, this house has not been lived in since '99! In this video, we'll give you a tour of this 2-bedroom home from the 1940s, show you what's inside, and chat about what needs to be done. I have lots of cleaning up to do, because we've got roofers and an electrician coming in soon, and we can't have the place looking like this. In case you're new around here, hello! We're Samuel and Audrey and after spending the past decade travelling and living overseas, we've now decided to take on the challenge of renovating a property in Argentina with multiple homes and a hotel. It's going to be a big project, but we're excited for what lies ahead and you're invited to join us on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. This week was World Cup madness as we watched Argentina become world champions and the whole country explode in celebrations!!! All I can say is that the World Cup fever was contagious! In this video we'll share our experience leading up to the final, watching the games with friends, celebrating each victory along the way, feeling the absolute stress during penalty kicks, and finally watching Argentina emerge victorious to win its 3rd cup in FIFA World Cup history. We may not have been in Qatar, but I daresay the energy in Argentina was unmatched! This is how we celebrated in a small mountain town up in the Sierras of Cordoba. #worldcup2022 #argentinachampion #argentinacelebration * * * * * * * * * * * * HOW YOU CAN HELP 🙏 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/samuelandaudrey 🧱 Buy us a Brick: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/samuelandaudrey ❤️ Like, share, subscribe and comment so the videos can reach more people. * * * * * * * * * * * * SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: https://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: https://nomadicsamuel.com/ and https://pictureperfectportfolios.com facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ * * * * * * * * * * * *
The house renovation in Argentina is finally back on track and the big update is that the 80-year-old roof has finally come off! This was much needed as we had A LOT of water coming in in multiple areas of the house. We're redoing both the roof and the ceiling and have opted for a wood ceiling (exposed beams and tongue and groove style in pine) with a metal roof. This home renovation is also giving us the chance to add roof insulation which is something that this house did not have - and let me tell you, it is needed because it can get cold up in the Sierras! In this renovation vlog, we'll be sharing a day-by-day chronicle of what's been unfolding on the property. 00:41 - Day 1 02:20 - Day 2 09:45 - Day 3 15:57 - Day 4 21:13 - Day 5 23:40 - Day 6 25:26 - Week 2 #homerenovation #houserenovation * * * * * * * * * * * * HOW YOU CAN HELP 🙏 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/samuelandaudrey 🧱 Buy us a Brick: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/samuelandaudrey ❤️ Like, share, subscribe and comment so the videos can reach more people. * * * * * * * * * * * * SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: https://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: https://nomadicsamuel.com/ and https://pictureperfectportfolios.com facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ * * * * * * * * * * * * Music We Use: http://bit.ly/SamAudreyMusic
Welcome back to the Argentina renovation series! We've had a crew working to clear the land over the past couple of weeks, and that means we've discovered a few interesting places that were previously inaccessible to us. Some of the places we've explored this week include the finca or the orchard where there are all sorts of fruit trees - plums, pears, apples, peaches and more! We also found an old construction that was once a caretaker's home - we may turn that into a storage shed in the future. We'll also update you on the well and our water woes. Plus, we'll show you some other finds, including a dreamy spot that Sam thinks would be ideal for a log cabin...way down the line! * * * * * * * * * * * * HOW YOU CAN HELP 🙏 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/samuelandaudrey 🧱 Buy us a Brick: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/samuelandaudrey ❤️ Like, share, subscribe and comment so the videos can reach more people. * * * * * * * * * * * * EXPLORING the PROPERTY IN ARGENTINA 🌱🤠 + Some SURPRISES We've Found! We're officially 5 months into renovating the property in Argentina. Can you believe it? Time has really flown by; we arrived in late spring and we're already starting to see the autumn colours appear around the garden. Are we where we thought we would be 5 months in? No, not quite. But that being said, a lot has been accomplished and we choose to celebrate those little milestones. Renovating a house has turned out to be a full-time job. Being on-site, managing crews, taking phone calls as problems arise, making decisions on the spot, going into town to buy materials, dealing with delays, managing payments... It's quite involved and sometimes it can feel like that's taking over your life. Renovation burnout is real, so we're taking a break. We've been going at it for 5 months straight and we can feel we need to hit the pause button and recoup our energy. So, we have booked a trip to our favourite place on Earth: Patagonia. We're so looking forward to mountains, trekking, and quality time with friends. And when we come back, hopefully we can get this house completed and cross the finish line! * * * * * * * * * * * * Feeling Burnt Out 😔🏚️ | 5 Months of Renovating a Rural Property in Argentina HOW YOU CAN HELP 🙏 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/samuelandaudrey 🧱 Buy us a Brick: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/samuelandaudrey ❤️ Like, share, subscribe and comment so the videos can reach more people. * * * * * * * * * * * * SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: https://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: https://nomadicsamuel.com/ and https://pictureperfectportfolios.com facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ * * * * * * * * * * * * Music We Use: http://bit.ly/SamAudreyMusic
Autumn in Patagonia is a magical time of year and we arrived in mid-April just in time to enjoy all the fall foliage! In this video we'll show you how we spent our first few days in Bariloche. This time around, we opted to stay in the outskirts of the city at Estancia del Carmen which overlooks Lake Gutierrez. It was a beautiful spot and we were surrounded by nature. Since we were so close to the lake, we opted to do a horse trek around Lake Gutierrez, which was a lot of fun. We got to trek through forests, open plains surrounded by mountains, and along the lake's crystal clear shores. We also hiked up to Laguna Verde via the Neumeyer Mountain Refuge. That was a breathtaking hike and the red autumn colours really made the green lagoon pop! Autumn is a great time of year to do this hike. And for anyone interested in doing these excursions, we booked them through Vivencias Travel once we arrived in Bariloche. We hope you enjoy this introduction to autumn in Bariloche, and we'll see you soon with more adventures in Patagonia! * * * * * * * * * * * * AUTUMN in PATAGONIA 🍂🥰🍁 | Hiking and Horse Trekking in Bariloche, Argentina HOW YOU CAN HELP 🙏 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/samuelandaudrey 🧱 Buy us a Brick: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/samuelandaudrey ❤️ Like, share, subscribe and comment so the videos can reach more people. * * * * * * * * * * * * SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: https://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: https://nomadicsamuel.com/ and https://pictureperfectportfolios.com facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ * * * * * * * * * * * * Music We Use: http://bit.ly/SamAudreyMusic
Crystalline turquoise waters, pebbly beaches, and mountains as far as the eye can see. Yes, this is Patagonia! We recently had the opportunity to stay at Estancia Arroyo Verde, a family-owned and managed fly-fishing lodge set on the shores of the famous Traful River and Traful Lake. The estancia is situated within Nahuel Huapi National Park, the oldest national park in Argentina. We spent two days here walking along the shores of Lake Traful, riding horses through the Patagonian steppe, watching deer stroll the valley at sunrise and sunset, and gathering together in the evenings to share meals with fellow guests and family members. This is a video of our experience there. Thank you to Estancia Arroyo Verde for inviting us to experience this corner of Patagonia! https://www.estanciaarroyoverde.com.ar/ * * * * * * * * * * * * This is What a PATAGONIAN BEACH Looks Like! 😍✨ | Staying at Estancia Arroyo Verde in Patagonia HOW YOU CAN HELP 🙏 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/samuelandaudrey 🧱 Buy us a Brick: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/samuelandaudrey ❤️ Like, share, subscribe and comment so the videos can reach more people. * * * * * * * * * * * * SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: https://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: https://nomadicsamuel.com/ and https://pictureperfectportfolios.com facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ * * * * * * * * * * * * Music We Use: http://bit.ly/SamAudreyMusic
It was our first week back at work since my Dad arrived in Argentina and we were ready to hit the ground running! My dad brought a suitcase full of tools from Canada because the plan was to get the house painted, but as usual, things are running a bit behind schedule. So, we may not have gotten around to painting, but there was plenty of work to be done all around us. The main focus this week was completing the controlled burns with the fire department in order to clear the brush we had cut. This was a whole process - we had to apply for a permit from the province, hire firefighters, monitor the weather closely, and get the job done before burn season ended. We had 3 back to back days of burns that ran well into the night, and of course, it's tradition to share a BBQ with the firefighters at the end of the work day, so the whole process was actually a lot of fun. That's this week's video - a hodge podge of what we got up to. We'll see you next week with more advances around the property! * * * * * * * * * * * * SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: https://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: https://nomadicsamuel.com/ and https://pictureperfectportfolios.com facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ * * * * * * * * * * * * Music We Use: http://bit.ly/SamAudreyMusic
