Welcome to another video with a very chatty Amelia! She loves our friend @Sherpas_vanlife book but always thinks it’s about Niko! Teddy loves to stay close to Nathan and clean up any spilt milk, meanwhile Amelia wants to negotiate additional pets from me! (It wouldn’t take much negotiation to be fair!) And of course it wouldn’t be a video without Phil stealing the show and a couple of toys from Teddy! He is so cheeky! Add Milo into the mix stealing any of Nathan’s things to sleep in and you have a riot! FYI when Amelia says Phil stinks that’s because he has been having some very powerful wind recently and they honestly make your eyes water they are so pungent! Ps there’s no excuse for the fat and big comment 😂 toddler has no filter! This is my routine looking after dogs with children, of course I have shane too but he was away for the morning. Whilst it’s a handful looking after them, the time and patience we invested on introducing the pets to the children, correctly setting boundaries and teaching the children love, respect and gratitude for their furry siblings pays dividends in the long run. It’s amazing to watch and see the interactions change from between the dogs to then how they know how to act with a small vulnerable child. They are smarter than we know and moreso than the children themselves in the early years, it’s then you have to watch out for ha. We spend a lot of time making sure the interactions are in a stable and comfortable environment so the dogs are happy too, we also take pride in knowing that they have not been treated any differently than they were before the children showing them the same love an affection as they are used to. I believe if there place and feeling of worth doesn’t change they have no reason to change their behaviour, emotions or actions that would otherwise lead you to think differently about dogs when a new child or baby is introduced into the family. A dogs love is unconditional, they are devoted to you without compromise and deserve the same back despite circumstantial changes. It clearly can be done, as with most things it gets harder but it’s worth it. It’s a hectic life as a mum of 6 but I wouldn’t change it for anything! Make sure you subscribe to our channel for more videos coming up. If you want to see the videos of introductions we have plenty of videos of introducing both babies when they were newborn to each individual pet, wether it a cat or a dog it’s the same principle. Maybe not if you have a Scorpion or something but you get the point! Thanks for watching our video and let us know your thoughts or experiences on bringing up children with dogs below!
