In early May 2015 I drove down to Frankfort KY to look at a 1982 Mustang in a Walmart parking lot. I ended up taking her home. Here s the first look at the donor car that will contribute many of the parts for my Ford Fairmont project. A lot of the essential components are there, but there is much work to be done as you ll see in the video. Considering what I paid and what I got, I m not disappointed. I believe I ll be able to get most of the parts I need for the project. The engine is a 302 bored out to 306. It has Ford racing heads as well as other upgraded internals. I ll likely dig in to check those out at some point. The car is a 5 speed with 3:08 gears and a welded differential. The suspension is defiantly shot, but I may be able to recondition it and use it. I ll just have to figure out how I can swap over the driveshaft and exhaust. For now I m driving the car to sort out the issues. When the day comes, I ll drop out all the parts I m using and get to work installing them in the fairmont. I m very much looking forward to that day. BTW, I LOVE the noise it makes.
