In this video I’ll show how to do some simple but effective test on a Nissan fuel injector circuit. Note the injector sound test with a screwdriver - keeping it simple! Though I performed the voltage testing with a scope, a digital multimeter would have worked just as well in this case. No reason to disconnect the PCM and ohm check the harness, as the factory flow chart would have you do. The testing demonstrated applies to ALL ground side switched injectors and outputs. Before doing any testing on computer outputs, please refer to my video on identifying circuit design for more information: Engine Performance Diagnostics chapter 3 pages 2 -19 Symptoms - misfire - check engine light (P0302) Fix - replace #2 fuel injector Tests shown - how to perform a fuel injector sound test - how to identify circuit design without a wiring diagram - how to verify an injector power feed circuit - how to check a ground side switched circuit for control and a short to ground using a test light - how to ohm test a fuel injector Tools used - screwdriver - lab scope - incandescent test light Playlist - (Chapters 17, 18 and 19) Fuel Injector Testing https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAFYVCyenqcoYm94zK0-EP0ICsGWj_ICs Related videos - How to test a fuel injector circuit with a noid light (a ScannerDanner Premium video) https://youtu.be/FAipVwCdwSQ - How to test a fuel injector circuit with basic tools (open control wire) https://youtu.be/kQUtAs-VrDY - Stuck Open Fuel Injector (how to fix) https://youtu.be/jsl531-6q-A - How to test a computer controlled solenoid - power/ground side identification https://youtu.be/kQz3g4HIWgs - GM EVAP Vent Solenoid Testing https://youtu.be/GWf60guK8gk - How to test a computer transistor driver (with a scan tool) https://youtu.be/MOSH8XLKrLc - How to test a computer transistor driver (without a scan tool) https://youtu.be/8FnYllf5D9E For more information on this topic, I have written a “field manual” called Engine Performance Diagnostics which is available at www.scannerdanner.com as an eBook or paper book. Whether you are a DIY trying to fix your own car, someone looking to become an auto technician, or a current auto technician that wants to get more into diagnostics, subscribe to ScannerDanner Premium https://www.scannerdanner.com/join-scannerdanner-premium.html There is a 14 day free trial. On ScannerDanner Premium I will bring you right into my classroom at Rosedale Technical College. You will find page for page lectures taken right from my book as well as exclusive classroom type case studies. What is so special about these classroom case studies? I pull live problem vehicles directly into my classroom and we troubleshoot them in real time, using and applying the theory and testing procedures we learn during the classroom lectures. There is no better on-line training of how to troubleshoot automotive electrical and electronics systems anywhere!
