Forehand myths debunked: Former Top 100 ATP Pro, Jeff Salzenstein, is exposing 3 common myths that could be crippling your forehands potential. Most players make at least 1 of these 3 mistakes... Do you? https://goo.gl/wFudVg Today, I want to give you a tennis forehand tip that involves how you can make your first move once you recognize the ball is coming to you. This is a concept that you can learn about in my popular Tennis Forehand Solution 2.0 course. As a coach, I’m always looking for ways to help my players improve as quickly as possible. I also look at what might work for each individual student. There is an art and a science to help each player and what works for one player might not work for another. In this video lesson, the tennis forehand tip that I want to share will give you a new possibility for how you can make a first move. The more common way to make the first move on the forehand involves keeping the racquet tip up during the preparation phase of the swing. But for some players, having the racquet tip lower on the first move as you can see in this video, can make the forehand more efficient. Some top pros make the first move with the racquet tip lower. This move will usually get the elbow to come out more in the preparation phase and can also help make the swing more compact. This tennis forehand tip is especially useful for players that take a big loop and have a large swing. Another benefit to having the racquet tip lower during the first move is that it creates more lag so that a player can generate more racquet head acceleration. You can try this first move style out and see how it feels compared to moving the racquet with the racquet tip up. Just make sure that you create space when you apply this unique tennis forehand tip on the first move. Also, another point to understand is that when the racquet tip is lower, the strings will face toward the ground more. Closing the strings can create a sling shot like motion when you swing at the ball...that’s the extra lag I was talking about earlier which will give you the effortless relaxation and power that you’re looking for. If you’re having trouble with your first move on your forehand and your swing feels too bi., try making a lower first move. Just remember to create lots of space and keep the racquet strings closed.
