Freeway miles are considered superior to city miles in just about every aspect. Every major and minor componant are used less as the car travels effortlessly down the freeway with everything running at optimum operating temperature. As a car cruises down the freeway the miles click away effortlessly without any strain on the engine, transmission, suspension, exhaust and just about everything other major and minor componant on a car. A city driven car will have punishing miles and a higher degree of usage than on highway car, from the engine, cold starts, potholes, curbs, stop and go, traffic lights, brake wear battery usage and frequent shifting. The car will age more quickly than a highway-driven. People generally look for a low mileage car as the single most important part of buying a car. It is not the miles that are so important as the type of miles. The interior of the car will also have more wear from city miles. If you think about it there will be over 10 times as much wear with the seats adjustments, door opening and closing, frequent window operation, blinker usage and a/c strain.
