I admit that I have never gone to my county s recycling center, but I stopped there yesterday to get rid of some old scrap wood and materials that the thrift store and salvage shop won t take (I kept the mirror, though). I felt sooo guilty until I talked to one of the workers who explained that the trash gets burned and turned into electricity. I don t understand the mechanics behind it, or how that still doesn t contribute to air pollution, but I did feel better that my scraps weren t just going to sit in a landfill somewhere. I still felt sad that many people don t think to simply contact the Salvation Army or another thrift store for perfectly good furniture pieces. Why should that stuff simply be destroyed and burned?? **Sorry for the shaky video! My iPhone malfunctioned during the quick interview and I didn t realize it until I got home and watched the footage. Yikes!
