THE SKY TURNED BLACK (literally) - Scary Fishing in a FOREST FIRE
A bizarre weather event rolls in causing total darkness to set in mid-day, wind, thunder, lightening, insanity as the forest fires are doused with intense rains causing the sun to blot out completely. It gets so dark, we can t see anything. It was like Armageddon was setting in and the last time we d even see the sun! We get dropped in the middle of the WILD NORTH in a float plane by RED LAKE Outfitters in order to fish and catch and cook our way out! FULL PLAYLIST: https://tinyurl.com/yao2e95b BOOK A TRIP! Red Lake Outfitters: https://www.redlakeoutfitters.com/ Harlan: https://www.youtube.com/user/solotripper In this episode we catch and cook walleye that are scaled only and put over an open fire to smoke. This helps preserve the fats in the fish and turns what would only be a little bit of protein into a complete meal including fats and nutrients from the brain and organs. We will show you how to clean and scale fish for eating. We include historical supplies including corn flour, animal fats, pemmican, and much more while making use of all the foraging we can muster to create wild historically accurate meals! We light fires using magnifying glasses, flint and steel! The sunsets are fantastic in the far North! Follow us as we portage our way through as Early Voyageurs and Courier des Bois. We ll fish from a canoe, travel by historical portage routes and explore the deep unspoiled boreal forest. We travel in and around active forest fires, dodging as we go to get at our neat wild cooked meal! We cook fish over fire, tent, and paddle our way through Canada s most underused provincial park to enjoy world class fishing where almost every cast is a fish! We use all our skills to navigate the park, portage over rocky boulders and explore the wild north. We have to portage all our gear as we go! We ll get into wild edibles including blueberries, raspberries, bunch berries, wild currants and more! #survival #bushcraft #wildfoods Use code "WoodBeard" to get 10% off ASAT Camo: www.asatcamo.com Merch (t-shirts): https://teespring.com/stores/the-wooded-beardsman
