However, while training your abdominals regular is important for overall health, it won't necessarily give you a 6 pack no mater how often or how hard you train them. *The truth about being able to see your abdominal muscles* It won't come just from doing exercises, If that's something that is important to you it comes by having low body fat, which can be achieved by training in a caloric deficit. Your nutrition is even more important than the exercises you're doing. Yogis shouldn't be obsessed with trying to see their abs, but instead being interested in optimal health, whatever that is for their body.  Lastly, it's unhealthy to be able to see the abdominals in a relaxed state (without flexing). This shows that the person is holding too much tension in their core, which isn't functional. We want the core to be functional, any muscles that can function optimally should be able to contract fully, and release fully. At rest the muscles should be relaxed, in the middle (not stretched not contracted).  Holding the abs in contraction all the time can cause serious issues for the spine and abdominal organs.   However, regularly stimulating the core muscles while incorporating stretching in your yoga practice will give you a full picture of bodily health, and a healthy strong core.  6 pack abs or not 😜
