Chopin Nouvelle Etude No.2 (Take 1) P. Barton FEURICH Harmonic Pedal piano

Nouvelle Etude No.2 is a study in voicing melody notes at the top chords and developing the facility to play 2 notes against 3. In the first edition (available from the link below) there are no pedal markings, except for the L.H. trill at the end. In the same edition, the other 2 Etudes do have pedal markings, which suggests Chopin was keen that the student performs this Etude by joining chord sequentially in legato, to the best of their ability, without pedal. Recorded with the harmonic pedal in resonance position which allows controllable sympathetic resonance as an alternative to the traditional sustain and no pedal. The harmonic pedal was invented by Denis de La Rochefordière.
