In the past, legends were made and here are a few who've made history in the past decades of the Iron Giant. In 1995 Alfie Cox won the very first edition of the Red Bull Hare Scramble in epic style. Back then the South African rode fast on every terrain. After his inaugural win at the Iron Giant, he became an international supporter of this amazing event. Alfie Cox, a hero who lived and breathed extreme enduro 25 years ago, and set the tone for generations to come. Second on the list is the Erzberg's living legend, Taddy Blazusiak. In 2007 Blazusiak came to the Erzberg as a spectator. With an eye-raising performance at a side-event, Karl Katoch, founder of the event, gave him a wildcard for the race. The Pole won the main race convincingly and left the Iron Giant as a KTM Factory Rider, and never looked back. However, injuries and other commitments kept him from extending his record. Still, Blazusiak's five wins in a row stand as the all-time record. Without the Veteran Brit, Graham Jarvis, Erzberg history could not be told properly. After his fourth title at the Iron Giant in 2018 there's no sign of Jarvis slowing down. Quite to the contrary, he once again proved that he is the man to beat at extreme enduro races. Another win will see him tie Blazusiak's record of 5 wins at the event. And then there's another fast rider to beat: Britain's Jonny Walker, the youngest winner ever. In 2011 he took part in his very first extreme enduro race, the Erzbergrodeo Red Bull Hare Scramble. His result, third place and a contract as a KTM factory rider. Three victories at the Iron Giant followed. After an enormous crash in 2018 at Red Bull 111 Megawatt in Poland, Walker is hungry for another win. Last but definitely not least on our list is someone who might become one of the best enduro riders ever. In 2014 Manuel Lettenbichler and his father Andreas finished the race together. Then 16 years old, Manuel became the youngest finisher ever in the history of the Erzbergrodeo Red Bull Hare Scramble. In 2018 the German young gun took third place after unselfishly helping his rivals on the track. In addition he finished the inaugural 2018 World Enduro Super Series season second overall. He seems ready to go for the series win this year.
