Hey everyone, it feels like yesterday we were here for the first time going through this! This time we have even more fluff! We re a big advocate of this stage, for those of you who have followed the channel before, our dogs know they re expecting change, they sense pregnancy and for Phil and Niko, they ve been through this before. Whilst they know and we can anticipate their reaction we like to go through these initial transitional steps. It s important to stay calm, and praise your dog s calm behaviour too. Keep them feeling included rather than pushing them away. and above all else, never leave your dog and your baby unsupervised despite how much you trust them. A dog is as much a family member as the child. They were here first and they too can be affected emotionally by distancing, exclusion and stress. It s unfair to turn their world upside down and not afford them the opportunity. Think of as many lifestyle changes as possible that’ll occur after your baby is born, and get your dog used to them well in advance – this will minimise stress when your newborn comes home.
