Serve myths debunked: Former Top 100 ATP Pro, Jeff Salzenstein, is exposing 3 common myths that could be crippling your serve potential. Most players make at least 1 of these 3 mistakes... Do you? https://goo.gl/TmgEuV How to serve in tennis is a question I get all the time as a high performance coach. The problem many players have when they learn how to serve, is that they grip the racquet too high. Simply put, they choke up too much. I want you to consider looking at the importance of how you hold the racquet and it s impact on learning how to serve correctly. When I get the question on how to serve, I immediately look at a tennis player s grip. I want the heel of your hand off the grip but the little finger, or pinkie, just on the grip. This will help you create a more relaxed, fluid motion with less effort. You will also have that easy racquet head speed you are looking for. Next time you have the question on how to serve, start by gripping the racquet lower than normal with the heel of the hand off the racquet to help you develop that fluid relaxed motion.
