It s a fun little sonata, full of self-deprecating humor: remember that Beethoven was a German, of a humble background, from a relatively small town, living in urbane and sophisticated Vienna, brilliant centre of 19the century civilization. He was like a Texan in Boston. Deep deep province.... The sonata is titled by the composer "in Germanic style" with all the charming stereotypes, including a real Black Forest cuckoo clock.
