The overture to Rossini’s last opera “Guillaume Tell” is one of his most well-known pieces. The finale of the symphonic-like overture is used in many movies and tv-shows and was also quoted by Shostakovich in the first movement of his Symphony No. 15 and by Johann Strauss Sr in his “William Tell Galop”. Gustavo Dudamel conducted the Berliner Philharmoniker on the legendary Waldbühne – one of the most appealing outdoor amphitheaters in Europe – in the summer 2014 with over 20.000 enthusiastic attendances.
