Survival guide: Use charcloth and non-functional lighter for ignition

A lighter can be disabled by a grain of sand or piece of dirt. If it s fueled by butane, the cold and elevation can keep it from functioning. Here is how to use a piece of charcloth and a non-functioning Zippo lighter to create the initial ignition.
