Deep Hamstring Stretches for Beginners | Yoga for Flexibility
This deep hamstring stretch for beginners is perfect for yogis looking to increase their flexibility! For optimal results, I suggest watching this video three times a week until you feel the back of the legs release. When we fold forward, weтАЩll simply let the upper body dangleтАж the hamstrings will already say hello! From here weтАЩll move into a flow of bending the knees into a sumo squat and straightening the legs. WeтАЩll then bring out hands to our shins and raise into a flat back, then weтАЩll fold even deeper. Connect to the breath here and really feel into the back of the legs. Make sure you engage the hamstrings to avoid over-stretching and injury! Next, gently, carefully come up to standing and rest a moment, allowing the breath to recalibrate. ItтАЩs totally normal to feel light headed or a little dizzy after such a long forward fold. WeтАЩll then continue with some standing and folded poses, each activating the hamstring stretch in a different way, and end our practice on the floor; yogis choice! ThereтАЩs the option to fold forward over outstretched legs, or have the legs in a V shape. Keep thinking of the feet actively flexing and the thighs pressing into the floor.
