http://www.crosstrainingenduro.com http://tractionerag.com Time for Kosciuszko Killer hard enduro gold class! The Kosciusko Killer, Australia's newest hard enduro and possibly its hardest yet. Massive climbs and ridiculous descents, especially in the gold class for anyone crazy or suicidal enough to give it a go. The Kosciuszko Killer gold class attracted Australia's best hard enduro riders such as Tim Coleman, Wade Ibrahim, Chris Perry, Ruben Chadwick, Anthony Solar and Chris Bayles. The Kosciuszko Killer organisers made sure that even the bronze class had some very tough climbs but there were marshals on hand to help everyone through and it was awesome to see most riders managed at least one lap. But the smell of overheated clutch plates was hanging in the air! The Kosciusko Killer hard enduro is one of the new events being developed by Grassroots Enduro Australia. The Kosciusko Killer hard enduro is one of the new events being developed by Grassroots Enduro Australia. Their aim? Put the fun as well as the challenge back into enduro with spectator-friendly events for riders of all skill levels. The guys are about to start, lets get down to the Kosciuszko Killer starting line. A spoiler alert, Tim Coleman led from start to finish in the Kosciusko Killer hard enduro so we'll just look at how everyone went on some of the tougher parts of the track. The guys checked out the Kosciuszko Killer track the day before and were wondering if one lap would even be possible. Incredibly steep, off camber and loose soil for the gold class. Eventually a handful of the Kosciuszko Killer hard enduro best riders got the hang of it, but on race day a pile of volunteers came to the rescue with rope to make sure all the gold class riders could get through. That's just the first half. Next was a rock face right in the middle of another steep off camber section. And then finally this suspended log over the Kosciuszko Killer extreme enduro track. Thrills chills and spills, extreme enduro is really starting to take off in Australia and the Kosciusko Killer is the latest addition. Both rider and bike were put to the test during this all natural terrain hard enduro event in the stunning Alpine region of Victoria. Out of his six laps, Tim only needed assistance on this climb once and apparently didn't even put a foot down on the various sections of this Kosciusko Killer hard enduro climb. A big thanks to volunteers who helped riders throughout the course, especially you guys on the ropes. Music: www.soundimage.org Next a Kosciusko Killer descent that appeared to be unrideable. At first this looked so steep some of the riders weren't sure if they could even bull dog down this slope. At least one bike did cartwheel down the hill, but the riders jumped off and eased their bikes down with plenty of hairy moments. Tim Coleman bull dogged through this section quite quickly But one of the most stunning moments of the day was seeing Ruben Chadwick actually ride down this Kosciusko Killer descent. Bull dogging is an important skill for hard enduro riders. It's slower than riding but minimises the risk of injury dramatically - if the bike slides out you just fall on your arse and slide down the Kosciuszko Killer extreme enduro hill along with your bike. Way better than going over the bars and cartwheeling with the bike. There are so many techniques these guys need to successfully get around a track like this, and it's not surprising that quite a few are also former A grade trials riders. Along with the skills is the ability to set their race pace... this kind of riding is exhausting so it's a fine balance between riding fast but also lasting the four hours. You can see the fatigue hitting Chris Perry here on his final lap. And of course hard enduro in the alpine region means massive climbs and ridiculous descents, regardless of whether you entered the bronze, silver or gold class. Even the juniors weren't exempt from the challenge. It was great to see riders of all skill levels having a go in the Kosciusko Killer extreme enduro. Congratulations to all the Kosciusko Killer gold class riders who finished the event. And if you've seen our main video, we also congratulate everyone in silver and bronze class who managed to get up the very first hill. This Kosciuszko Killer hard enduro is one seriously hard ride and we look forward to more from Grassroots Enduro Australia in future.
