http://www.crosstrainingenduro.com Our Gopro Hero 7 Black v Sony FDR-X3000 action cam review! Arguably the best action cams in the high end of the market: Sony 4K Action Cam FDR-X3000 vs Gopro Hero 7 Black. Which is better for you? I am not really into these direct comparisons and claiming there is a clear winner. Another plus for the Sony, if you want to use an external mike is has a 3.5mm jack, the Gopro Hero 7 Black doesn't. All more fodder for the Sony 4K Action Cam HDR-X300 vs Gopro Hero 7 Black debate. Sometimes there is, but often all the products are good and it comes down to which will best suit each person. But then the Gopro Hero 7 Black better shape and features like a touch screen, voice control and super slow motion will make the Gopro a clear winner for others. So a spoiler alert, this is one of those situations. These are both excellent cameras but hopefully I can explain why one model might suit you better than the other one. Price. The Gopro Hero 7 Black comes with a built in rear screen for $US600. If you can live without a screen, the Sony Action Cam is only $400, but more comparable to the Gopro if you include the Live-view remote kit. And rumour has the remote kit doesn't work all that well. To me it's a bit like choosing which motorbike, once you know how much you want to spend the bikes are so good it will just come down to small preferences. Good luck choosing: Sony 4K Action Cam HDR-X3000 vs Gopro Hero 7 Black. Lens protection is much better on the Gopro Hero 7 Black action cam. If you crack the built in cover, just replace it. On the Sony 4k Action Cam you need to use the waterproof case to protect the lens which makes the camera bigger, heavier and ruins the audio. There is an aftermarket cover but it costs a fortune, Sony should have supplied one with the action camera. All my Gopro action cams have occasionally frozen and the only way to get going again was remove the battery and reinsert to reboot the camera, despite firmware updates. I was a bit surprised to find this still continues with the latest models. Not very often, but it's an annoying little glitch I thought they would have solved years ago. Video quality. Size and shape. Both cameras are similar weights, but the shape is important for how you mount the camera. For dirt riding, if you mount on the side of the helmet, the Sony Action cam's long slim profile is much better. On top of the helmet or under the peak it is comparable to the Gopro Hero 7 Black cam. But once you start mounting on your chinbar the Sony HDR-X3000 shape gets awkward. The Gopro is waterproof without a case, the Sony is only shower proof and it's case makes it bigger, heavier, and muffles the audio badly. Operating the camera and using the menu system should see the Gopro well ahead as it has voice control for some features and the touch screen for the rest. However for dirt riding we found the voice control becomes unreliable once there's some wind noise, and the touch screen isn't all that easy to get working sometimes, especially if wearing gloves. With the Sony HDR-X3000 it's the old system of hitting two buttons to scroll through the menus - old school but it works okay. Gopro will be well ahead when they iron out the kinks in their system. There are so many other features to these cameras but for motorbike use I think these are the big ones. Hopefully you can see why there is no clear winner to suit everyone. Click here to see an excellent comparison of the two: Gopro Hero 7 Black vs Sony 4K Action Cam HDR-X3000. Are you a slow motion junkie? The Gopro Hero 7 Black wins out here. At 1080p you can film at 240 frames per second, the Sony will only do 120 frames per second. Audio is a mixed bag. The Sony definitely has better audio overall. The Gopro Hero 7 Black is good but the Sony is simply better. However, once you are moving it's a different story. The Gopro's case protects the mike from wind noise up to a certain speed, about 50km/h in our experience. After that you can select the wind noise reduction but then the audio becomes very muffled. On the Sony action cam you need to use the case to prevent wind noise but the audio is then terrible. It looks dodgy, but we've had awesome results with simply a bit of foam and a rubber band. #goprohero7black #sonyactioncam #sonyvgopro Music: https://www.purple-planet.com Music: www.playonloop.com Music: https://soundimage.org Music: https://audionautix.com/ Music by Tobu: https://tobu.io http://youtube.com/tobuofficial Music: https://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music Music: https://soundimage.org Music by Atch: SoundCloud: https://bit.ly/AtchSoundCloud Spotify: https://bit.ly/AtchSpotify Instagram: www.instagram.com/atchmusic
