My Malamute Is Going Bald! Alopecia X | Coat Funk

Poor poor Philly bear! His glorious golden coat is disappearing at an alarming rate and all his skin is going black! This condition has been diagnosed as alopecia X also commonly known as coat funk in malamutes. You can t tell if your malamute has it unfortunately and it starts to show tell tale signs by the age of 3 usually which was text book for Phil. We have been to specialist vets dermotoligists, tried supplements, treated for thyroid conditions, ointments, you name it but nothing has worked over the years. Phil is 8 now and the condition is speeding up. We have been advised by a vet to get a coat/jumper for him in colder months now. x
